Snapshot: Union Elections (and Win Rates) Are Down

For employers who track these sorts of things: I've got some good news...and I've got some bad news for you.
First, the good news:
According to National Labor Relations Board data, unions had nearly 140 fewer elections to unionize employers in Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 (1055 RC elections) than they did in FY 2017 (1193 RC elections). [See data below.]
By comparison, in FY 2008, the NLRB conducted over 2000 elections.
On top of that, union win rates declined from 71 percent in FY 2017 to 69 percent in FY 2018.
Now, the bad news: It does not look like the NLRB's quickie (or ambush) elections are going away anytime soon.
