Our Annual Report 2022 is Out Now!
We are proud to announce the launch of the Aflatoun Annual Report 2022, the inaugural year of our 2022-2026 Global Strategy – Energising the Global Movement for Social & Financial Education. In the midst of a global education crisis that has left millions of children and youth on the margins, the Aflatoun network of partners stands as a source of inspiration and positive change.
Aflatoun's Annual Report 2022 showcases the power of education in creating positive change. We prioritized the further improvement of inclusive and responsive education resources, introducing ground-breaking initiatives such as the Digital Finance Toolkit, developing meaningful youth participation guidelines, and recognizing the vital role of parents in the holistic development of children.
During the year, 40 new organisations joined the movement of Aflatoun partners. Aflatoun supported the work of 28 Governments in their commitment to integrate life skills and financial education into their education systems.
In addition, Aflatoun’s commitment to drive bold thought leadership in a turbulent (post-Covid-19) world shone through in the release of our pioneering report: “Peer-Led Financial Education for Adolescent Girls in Low and Middle-Income Countries.” This comprehensive review highlighted the effectiveness of peer-led financial education in improving financial literacy among adolescent girls, enabling them to navigate the transition from childhood to adulthood and from school to work life. We finalized a Multi-Country Evaluation of the Life Skills and Financial Education programme.?Aflatoun’s classes were found to bring about significant positive changes in adolescents' lives.
As a result, 3.8 million children were reached by partners of the Aflatoun Global Network, prioritizing the most vulnerable. Furthermore, 29.5 million learners were reached through integrating Social and Financial Education content into national curricula in different education systems.

Aflatoun International and UNICEF South Africa Facilitate a Training on Aflateen+ in Pretoria
At the end of July, Aflatoun and UNICEF South Africa facilitated a four-day training on the Girls and Boys Educational Movement (GBEM) Aflateen+ manual.
The GBEM is an initiative implemented by UNICEF South Africa that aims to form school clubs made up of girls and boys committed to the promotion of human rights, quality education and mutual respect. The clubs address various topics such as peer learning, access to education, and life skills. By implementing the Aflateen+ manual, the children will also learn about financial literacy, savings, and planning for their futures.
The training focused on the manual to allow the youth participants to get familiar with its content and methodologies. The facilitators also practised Active Learning Methods for child-centred education and engaged in meaningful discussions on how to address sensitive topics with children.
The 38 attendees are now ready to implement the GBEM Aflateen+ programme across the country.

AflaTot – Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Development Curriculum is Launched in Irbid, Jordan
This month, in partnership with the Tahfeez ????? Association for Entrepreneurship and Development, we proudly launched the AflaTot curriculum in Irbid, Jordan. A core aspect of the event was highlighting how the curriculum will be implemented in the local context and the crucial role parents play in early childhood education. Families' active involvement and support are instrumental in fostering holistic development and ensuring children's overall success. Seeing parents present, invested in their children's education, reaffirmed the power of collective efforts in nurturing young minds.
In line with our commitment to inclusivity, participants included Jordanian children as well as Syrian and Palestinian refugees residing in Irbid. This diversity showcases the curriculum's ability to bridge communities and provide opportunities for all, regardless of background or origin.
As the AflaTot journey commences, the young children and their families are set to embark on a remarkable path of empowerment through Social and Financial Education. By fostering social and financial skills at an early age, we aim to equip these young learners with tools and knowledge to tackle life's challenges confidently.
