Now lets come back to Snapdragon 865 5G Mobile Platform :)
Qualcomm Snapdragon 865
The Snapdragon 865 promises to have 25% faster CPU performance (or 25% better CPU power efficiency) and 20% faster graphics (or 35% greater GPU power efficiency) compared to the Snapdragon 855.
Qualcomm? Snapdragon? 865 mobile platform scales 5G and leading 5th gen AI to power next-generation, premium devices with breakthrough features—from Gigapixel speed photography to desktop-level gaming features to staggering multi-gigabit 5G connectivity.
The CPU gains are primarily achieved from using the ARM Cortex-A77 performance cores (A76 in the 855). That said, the configuration of the CPU is pretty much the same, with even clock speeds staying unchanged between generations. So there's still one Prime core (marketed as Kryo 585) clocked up to 2.84 GHz, 3x Performance cores (Kryo 585) clocked up to 2.4 GHz, and 4x Kryo 385 (based on Cortex-A55) Efficiency cores clocked up to 1.8 GHz.
The new Adreno 650 GPU supports QHD+ 144Hz screens (or UHD 60Hz). The Spectra 480 ISP supports up to 200 MP main cameras (or 64 MP with zero shutter lag), or up to 25 MP dual cams, 4K HDR @60fps video capture with 64MP burst images or 4K @ 120 fps, or 8K @ 30 fps, as well as unlimited capture of 720p footage at 960fps.
The X55 modem is part of the package (although it's not on the same die as the SoC), supplying both 4G and 5G connectivity, achieving theoretical maximum download speeds of 7.5Gbps on 5G and 2.5Gbps on 4G (and uplinks of 3Gbps and 316Mbps, respectively). It supports both standalone and non-standalone 5G networks, as well as both sub-6 and mmWave developments.
The Snapdragon 865 is Wi-Fi 6 certified and supports Bluetooth 5.1, aptX TWS, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Voice. The Hexagon 698 and Tensor accelerator bring a 5th gen AI engine which doubles the performance of its predecessor.
Plus, brand-new Qualcomm? Snapdragon Elite Gaming? features bring desktop-level gaming to mobile with ultra-realistic graphics from a revved-up GPU and desktop forward renderer. This dynamic performance is fueled by a resilient battery for intense game-play throughout the day.

Finally, out of all products launched during the annual Snapdragon Tech Summit this week in Hawaii.
Here's the rumored Snapdragon 865 phones list so far:
- Samsung Galaxy S11, Galaxy S11 Plus, and Galaxy S11e
- LG G9 and LG V60
- Sony Xperia 2
- OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T
- Moto Z5 (will probably have a different name)
- Asus Zenfone 7
- Samsung Galaxy Fold 2
- Samsung Galaxy Note 11 and Galaxy Note 11 Plus
- ZTE Axon 11 Pro
- Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 5 XL
- Asus ROG Phone 3
There are surely more Snapdragon 865 phones from companies like Vivo, Xioami, and Meizu, though it's harder to draw successors to their current lineups. Rest assured, I expect most flagship Android phones to run this chipset.
And when it comes to Moto, its flagship phone could use the 865 chip, but I don't know if there'll ever be a 'Moto Z5'. Motorola's aging Moto Mod idea has limited the company's ability to offer a redesign, as the mods are all backward compatible. After four years of much of the same, I expect a full fresh and perhaps a new name.
