A girl to a boy, I wish I could delete all my pictures in my ex's phone. Something like this would have happened with Evan Spiegel, CEO Snapchat, which gave him the idea of coming up with something as interesting as Snapchat.
In 2013, when Snapchat turned down the offer by Facebook to buy out the "coolest hub for teens" for $ 3 Billion, it was considered a stupid move. But looking at the Harvard study, over 36% of Americans ages 18 - 29 use snapchat and the numbers are increasing exponentially, it seems the decision was pretty decent.
With more than 150 million daily users this 5 year old app has become the hot favorite of the millenials and seem to be still running strong. With more and more people interested in just visual content, it seems that this "click & share" app has a long way to go. Snapchat has redefined communication through visual medium, a lot more fun and game-like by letting people send animated selfies and short videos. It has given power to people by introducing interesting methods of converting themselves into much prettier and popular forms eg: unicorns, topical creatures and puppies (a major hit).
The "24hr content refresh" functionality has contributed in pumping up the percentage of daily visitors. With brands like Cosmopolitan and National Geographic continuously pushing new and snackable content under "Discover", it is impossible to ignore.
What do you think will be a bigger one in 2020?
FACEBOOK OR SNAPCHAT
