As part of my work I understand the demands placed on you leaves little time for reading long articles on stress management, hence this brief guide "snap-shot" into some of the most effective practical strategies to reduce stress and promote a balanced life.
Drawing on my experience in high-performance coaching and wellbeing, these insights that can help you implement effective prevention techniques, and create a healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle. Whether you’re a high achiever pushing the limits or someone seeking to improve your overall well-being, these strategies will get you started and empower you to take control and thrive in both your personal and professional life.
1. Recognise Stress Signals
Stress manifests differently in each person. Pay attention to nervousness, upset stomach, headaches, or tense muscles. Regularly practice stress-relieving techniques like walking or journaling to prevent acute stress from becoming chronic.
2. Set Clear Boundaries
Establish personal limits that align with your needs and expectations. Clear boundaries prevent an unmanageable workload and eventual burnout. Learn to say no when necessary and prioritize self-care.
3. Cultivate Work-Life Fit
Striking a balance between work and personal life is tricky! Research shows that a healthy work-life fit increases productivity and job satisfaction. Make time for activities beyond work to stay motivated and energized.
4. Prioritise Self-Care
Self-care involves activities that improve physical and mental health. Whether it’s eating well, staying hydrated, or spending time with loved ones, prioritize what brings you joy and nurtures your well-being.
5. Regularly Take Breaks
Step away from work to recharge. Short breaks throughout the day enhance focus and prevent the build up of stress. Use these moments to stretch, breathe, or enjoy a cup of tea.
