Starting today, Amazon Prime users in 37 US cities will be able to use Amazon Key, the company’s new in-home delivery service. Using the Key app, a smart door lock, and Amazon’s Cloud Cam security camera, a delivery person will be granted access to drop off packages. In the coming months, Prime users will also be able to schedule in-home visits from local businesses such as cleaners or plumbers. Amazon’s latest offering, as well as a similar pilot from Walmart, raise key issues about convenience and privacy; according to CNET, 68% of US adults said they weren’t comfortable giving delivery workers access to their homes. ? Snap plunged in after-hours trading after CEO Evan Spiegel announced a major revenue miss in the company’s third quarter. It’s the latest bad news for the firm facing intense competition from Facebook, and whose Spectacles — which added $40 million to the company’s losses — were a flop. On the bright side: Chinese giant Tencent sees the company’s woes as a buying opportunity, saying today that it would take a 10% stake; the announcement helped Snap's stock recoup some of its late trading losses. Spiegel also said yesterday that the company would redesign its core product, in the hopes of making Snapchat easier to use (and easier for advertisers to understand, as it fights for ad dollars). ? Democrats won two key gubernatorial races in the first statewide elections since President Trump took office. Ralph Northam defeated Republican Ed Gillespie in Virginia, while former Wall Street banker Phil Murphy will take Chris Christie's position as governor of New Jersey, defeating Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno. The races could offer an indication of next year’s 2018 midterm elections, says Bloomberg — when the US House of Representatives and Senate will be at stake. ? Share your thoughts: #GovRacesNJVA

Hello, 280. Twitter is expanding tweets to 280 characters for nearly all users (the change won’t apply to Chinese, Japanese, or Korean languages) after rolling it out to some accounts in September. The company said people tweeted “more easily and more often” with the extended count, but that it didn’t substantially change Twitter’s brief-and-breezy character: Only 1% of users with extra space actually hit the limit. It’s all part of the social network’s efforts to grow users and engagement. ? Share your thoughts: #TwitterDoubled
Disney reversed a decision to bar Los Angeles Times critics from its film previews, after growing backlash from media outlets, critics groups, and high-profile figures like “A Wrinkle In Time” director Ava DuVernay. The LA Times was originally denied access because of its coverage of Disney’s business dealings with Anaheim; the paper reported in September that the company paid virtually no taxes in the city, which is home to Disneyland. Major critics groups threatened to keep Disney out of awards consideration, while media outlets like The New York Times and The A.V. Club also threatened to boycott Disney’s advance screenings — including for hot-ticket films like “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” ? Share your thoughts: #DisneyLATimes
Idea of the Day: How does a company like Uber revamp its culture? That’s been a key question for CEO Dara Khosrowshahi since he took the helm in August — and on Tuesday he unveiled the scandal-plagued startup’s new tenets. “Instead of penning new values in a closed room, we asked our employees for their ideas,” he explained: Uber workers submitted more than 1,200 ideas which were voted on over 22,000 times.
“I feel strongly that culture needs to be written from the bottom up. A culture that’s pushed from the top down doesn’t work, because people don’t believe in it.”

Amazon is at it again after the company takes full advantage of the internet marketing channels. Now Amazon is trying to take it to the next level by delivering your package in your home. I think the amazon key is a great idea now the packages will not get stole or get wet in bad weather. The company will benefit from this innovation because the customer will feel more save order expensive items on the website since they don’t have to worry about their product get stole or destroyed.
