Snake (Essential) Oil Alert, again.

Snake (Essential) Oil Alert, again.

"The Good Habit?

"Everything Good Without Anything Bad"

Slogans so cringe that only LLMs can come up with that.

"No vapor, no nicotine, just delicious natural flavored air."

Genius marketing move. Eventually embracing fully the values from the absurd movement to achieve the Holy Grail of the yuppies: Selling fresh air.

Screenshot from

"No Toxins" - now - that's not anymore selling argument, but plain lies and misrepresentation. This product contains essential oils that are chemically not oils (the absurd goes far) but they are toxins.

"Backed by Studies and Science"
"Multiple 3rd party studies and toxology reports verify FUM's effectiveness and safety"

I hadn't seen yet anything as bad. The actual page "The Science & Safety Behind Füm", https://tryfum.com.au/blogs/fum/the-science-safety-behind-fum, is I think the most atrocious misrepresentation of science I have ever seen.

A couple things to note when doing research

This sentence itself is rather innocuous. I would expect it in a student's assignment. But in this context, it leaves me unsure whether to laugh or to cry. Nonetheless, the point of this page was to provide - hopefully, a list of studies ("Multiple 3rd party...)

Our goal is to create a concise list, all in one place, of all the documentation and research done on the inhalation and digestion of the natural plant compounds (essential oils) used in Füm's Cores.

Well 19 months later, this list contains a glorious 1 link towards 1 DRAFT NSF "toxicology report". Reading this report, all it does is confirm that the rate of evaporation of the essential oil during the course of a couple hours is measurable by mass loss and to draw a quantitative inital estimate that

the essential oil exposure per draw of product is likely to be less than 1 uL.

I let the reader judge to what extent this "verifies FUM's effectiveness and safety". Why would the NSF accept to have their work misrepresented this way is beyond my comprehension.

A couple of regulatory points :

Is Füm FDA-Approved?
FüM is fully FDA-compliant. While the FDA does not actually approve supplement and food-grade products, only drugs, we will always go above and beyond with safety.

In plain English - they are outside of the FDA's jurisdiction. Calling that FDA-compliant is absurd, there is no other word.

"If you notice a slight sore throat after using your FüM, it could be a sign of mild dehydration, leading to irritation in your mouth and throat."

AFAIK this is illegal medical advice.
