SMU Offers class on Presidential Rhetoric of George W. Bush at the Bush library

Dr. Ben Voth will be teaching a Mayterm class May 18 through June 2 at the George W. Bush Presidential Center. The afternoon class is open to all who enroll through the SMU Mayterm program. This is the second offering for the class that began one year ago. In last year's class, students wrote chapters for an E-Book about Bush's Presidential speeches. Students met with key advisors from the Bush administration and also gained archival access to original materials from the Bush presidency. It is the only college course in the world that can offer this kind of direct access to the Presidency of George W. Bush.

Professor Dr. Ben Voth was an invited scholar to the 2015 Hofstra Presidential Studies Conference on President Bush. The Hofstra conference invites top national scholars on various Presidencies to present their research on the Presidency being studied. Dr. Voth has worked in various capacities with the Bush institute including training Korean and Burmese advocates in defense of Human Freedom. Voth is the director of debate at SMU and centers all his courses around the importance of free speech and hearing various viewpoints.

This course will remain open for public enrollment until at least Friday May 5. Anyone interested in taking this class should check the provided link below:

My master's thesis was on the rhetorical strategies of the Bush press conferences. I should probably show it to you some day.
