One must learn from the Mahabharata mythology a great lesson that being silence at the time when it is required of you to speak could cause catastrophe. Once Draupadi was taken by clutching her hair and dragging into the court of King Dhritrashtra. She was ill-treated, but everyone remained quite and nobody raised objection in the court. Dusshasan even tried to pull her saree. It is a different thing that she was devotee of Lord Krishna and He helped her by extending the cloth on her body.
Acharya Bhishma is remembered even today for the only sin (remaining silent) which he had committed in the court at that time. The point here is had anybody raised a objection, she would not have been insulted the way it happened. An atheist may object to the mythological reference but these stories are a great lessons for human kind.
A silent smile is much powerful than what we think. It's the best reaction when one is being criticized for their action. It's subdues all the negative reaction which is to be expected from you under a situation. Smile is the best way to solve many problems and silence is the best way to avoid many problems.
Silence in crucial situations conveys a sense of submission to the existing circumstances, lack of confidence, unwillingness, cowardliness which of course, no one want. Life is what you make it. Silence is not going to churn something valuable out of life when you need it so badly.
Silence is sometimes warranted where your interests collide with each other. If that situation arises then don’t break your silence to disturb the status quo. What is best for you will come out. And the other way may be to break silence and take stand and solve the matter at the earliest. And in any matter where your word hardly matters, it’s better to remain quite. Situation decides whether silence is required or not. You can’t act at your whims and caprice.
However, scientifically speaking, the best solution doesn’t exist. there may infinitely many solution of only single problem. it depends on brain how one approach to problem and discover new ways to solve a problem. some solution may give same result but some solution can give different result. Life is so dynamic, to get approximately good answer you really need to put some constrain and expect the good result.
Silence might also mean ignorance in a way or another. Silence give you time to rethink about your way of solving problems and also give time to other understand better thing about the problem. It's the dynamic of time by which you some how come up with the solution which approximately every one agrees but, the solution never itself is the best one. There are always lots of possibility. it is our limitation that we can’t discover new ways , but doesn’t mean there aren’t the good ones.
Silent is like, not trying to solve the problem or waiting for someone to solve it for you. Here, you're ignoring the problem or procrastinating it, which is unhealthy to the situation. You have to think and act. Silent is just like an “escapism” from the scenario. Don't do it!On the other hand, calmness/peace helps you to understand it and shows the way more than you think. If you have seen the movie “The karate kid”, you can know an excerpt from the movie when Chan says to the kid, “ Being still and doing nothing is different” Cheers!

KISHORE SHINTRE Sir silence many times a powerful tool depends on where you need to be silent. There is a powerful action process also goes behind silent. Same from Mahabharatha. Sishupal kept abusing Lord Krishna and the lord was silent. Balram was furious and ask Lord reason behind the Silence. Lord kept silent and smiling. He took advantage of the Silence and never knew the reason behind the Silent. Some top political leaders dont open mouth but that silent people think they have no answers. But smile is very very powerful tool as it gives hopes and unknown happiness to millions of people. It connects you to joy. It opens pandora of sharing and create a vibration. Between smile and silent there is a big thing hidden.
