Smile! It is just the best Style!

In this article, I discuss what is meant by smile, main types of smiles and the benefits of smiling for people. So just smile while reading the article!

Now, we all know the global message of “Smiling”. It is just a global expression of pleasure and approving. However, something we smile to express different messages depending on the context.

First of all let me start by definition. According to Cambridge dictionary a smile is: “a?happy?or?friendly?expression?on the?face?in which the?ends?of the?mouth?curve?up?slightly, often with the?lips?moving?apart?so that the?teeth?can be?seen”.

I also remember reading one of the definitions of smile as: “A small curve thing that makes big things go straight!” I like this concept as it shows the great impact that a well-timed smile cam make on the audience.

Secondly, how many types of smiles are there? According to researchers, there are three different types of smiles—cuspid, commissure, and complex.

  1. Cuspid Smile:

In this type of smile, the shape of the lips are commonly visualized as a diamond. Experts believe that 31% of people have this type of smile.?The best examples of celebrities with the cuspid style are Angelina Jolie and Tom Cruise. If you have a cuspid smile, you will show mostly your upper teeth and parts of your gums in your upper arch.

  1. Commissure Smile:

Considered as the most common type of smile. It is seen in more than 65% among the world population. This smile type can be classified as having a bow shape. To have this smile, the corners of your mouth move up and out, pointing toward the corner of your ears when you smile. The famous phrase ‘grinning from ear to ear’ was coined by someone having a commissure smile.?I believe Lionel Messi have this type of smile.

  1. Complex Smile:

This is the rarest type of smile with only an estimated 2% of the population possessing it. This smile is rare because it requires three muscle groups to work simultaneously when smiling. If you have this smile, the two muscles used in the cuspid and commissure and the lower lip will pull downward, resulting in a double chevron shape.?Famous examples of the complex smile are Marilyn Monroe and Julia Roberts.

Thirdly, I will discuss the benefits of smiling. Many studies showed the benefits of smiling personally and socially. Smiling have positive impact your body and mind offering benefits for your health, your mood, and even the moods of people around you. In Islamic, we have the famous “Tradition- Hadith”: “Your smiling at your brother face is a gift!”

  • Smiling Relieves Stress:

Smiling not only helps to prevent us from looking tired, worn down, and overwhelmed,?but it can actually help decrease stress. When you are stressed, try intentionally putting a smile on your face. It may help improve your mood and ability to manage the stress you are experiencing.

  • Smiling Elevates Mood:

Smiling can also help make you feel happy. Next time you are feeling down, try putting on a smile. There's a good chance your mood will change for the better. It also causes the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin, which can boost your mood. Think of smiling as a natural antidepressant.

  • Smiling Is Contagious:

How many times have you heard that a smile has the power to light up the room? While it is certainly a beautiful sentiment, it carries a hint of truth. Research suggests that smiles are actually contagious. Your brain automatically notices and interprets other people's facial expressions—and sometimes, you may even mimic them. That means you might spot someone else's smile and unconsciously smile yourself.

  • Smiling Boosts the Immune System:

Smiling can also boost your overall health by helping your immune system to function more effectively. It is thought that when you smile, immune function improves because you are more relaxed (thanks to the release of certain neurotransmitters).

  • Smiling Reduces Pain:

Studies have shown that smiling releases endorphins, other natural painkillers, and serotonin. Together, these brain chemicals make us feel good from head to toe. Not only do they elevate your mood, but they also relax your body and reduce physical pain. Smiling is a natural drug.

Finally, smile is a small curve thing that make big things go straight. There are three types of smiles namely Cuspid Smile, Commissure Smile and Complex Smile. Smiling has positive impact on us and on the people we interact with. Smiling relieves stress and elevates Mood. Smiling is also contagious in addition to that fact that it boosts the Immune System. Smiling Reduces Pain and generates natural pain killers. So just SMILE! It is the best style!
