Smile Foundation Biathlon wrap up

Smile Foundation Biathlon wrap up

What a day!

I am not even sure where to start but I can say I am overwhelmed with the support and engagement of all of those involved on the day. We did it, well most of it. Raising lots of money for the Smile Foundation and pulling off the logistics of an ambitious goal.

Attached are a few of the pics of the amazing people who took part and supported. I will mention a few names but we will work on a summary video of the day so you dont have to watch the whole 5 hour live stream lol. If you do have too much time on your hands then here is the link to the livestream video to watch the whole day again.

Smile Foundation for the great work they do making the lives of kids so much better

Tshwane Metro Police Department - You guys are the epitome of professionalism. My vote for MPD of the year! Happy birthday to team leader Pieter!

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department - JMPD - Wow we felt like VIP’s in our own town. Keeping us safe in the midst of the energy of the streets of Joburg. Thank you.

Mantis Security - I dont even know where to begin with how far beyond you and your team went for the Biathlon and Smile Foundation. From raising funds to challenging others in the industry, to supplying staff for security, to supplying and driving the pace car, to integrating with the Metro Police Departments, and to the Water point on the highest point of the day. You guys ROCK!

Planet Fitness. Gillian you are as phenomenal as the brand you represent. Always supporting the community initiatives. Thank you.

Imperial Logistic and Imperial Wanderers. The corner that gives the most encouragement to all our initiatives. Your service and facilities are mind blowingly impressive.

Melrose Arch precinct - Always presenting the best place for the greatest accessible lifestyle experience

Aqua Ice Solutions - there would be no survivors without your amazing hydration on route. It was a tough day for the athletes but they were kept hydrated all day by your support.

Biokinetics AssocSa South Africa and Natasha Deley for the administrative support on the day. Just keeping up with the ever changing Covid regulations is tough enough but you handled everything perfectly.

To the other brands who supported the event in the most heart warming way:

TAG Heuer

Old Mutual South Africa

Bidvest Prestige

Spier Wine Farm

Thank you all

Next the people on the day. What can say about the phenomenal energy and amazing gees you bring to taking on the challenge on the day. Explaining the toughness of the route will never do justice to the experience. It was PROPER!

Those who completed the day:

Temotio Jacobo - The machine that can do anything. Only one month before he started getting a grasp on the bike riding concept.

Malcolm Siggeman - Probably the most supportive and engaging person in the fitness market. Always giving your time and expertise to others. Plus a serious amount of pacing on the day.

To the athletes who took up the challenge and joined us on the whole day, hats off to you and thanks for making it so special:

Robyn Wood and Linda Holland who showed a depth of character that only gets exposed in those dark times when you are fighting your inner demons you find on a tough day out. Despite this the smiles and laughs were none stop.

For completing the bike ride:

Marissa Van De Linde - The power house of the day. Pacing us through the 100km bike ride and sticking to all the speed requirements to make the various points on time. Everyone got a huge lesson in understanding what it takes to be a provincial level rider and you did it with a smile and humbleness. Plus you made a phenomenal live stream expert for the run section too!

Then to the guys who were there for Temotio the whole way through and just seemed to never cease in their encouragement for others (and being able to do the whole thing themselves: Lerato Mawela and Thabiso Nakin

And then the runners who taught us all about how to enjoy a run and not just suffer. The songs and the dance moves on the run were amazing:

Maria Vilakazi

Devine Rasefate

Gomolemo Motaung

Kgomotso Diphoko

Brain Muloisane

Maphuti Elizabeth Phaka

Deborah Forbes - my personal MD, your support means the world to me. Please run slower next time haha.

To Werner Heenop from Erace (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXFAda_hVuFAJRFeixVk6Kg) for the live-streaming support. You extended the reach of the event with all your effort in an amazing way. Keep an open for the post production video in the next few days.

Again thank you to everyone and know your support of the Smile Foundation Biathlon.

And for now I need to rest my legs. Have a great day everyone!
