SeaBot Maritime's Exclusive VIP Briefing Showcases Future of Maritime Operations
SeaBot Maritime e hosted a VIP briefing on Monday 23rd October at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, providing an exclusive insight into the future of maritime operations. The attendees had the chance to witness MASS training in progress.
?The training marked the convergence of commercial and military interests, with delegates from the Royal Navy's NavyX programme joining commercial trainees for specialised training in remote operations with uncrewed surface vessels. This 10-day training course, held from 16th to 27th October, also introduced the Navy's developmental vessel, the Patrick Blackett, into the programme.
Cammell Laird and A&P Group Join Forces to Form APCL Group LTD
In a strategic move set to reshape the shipbuilding and ship repair landscape, Cammell Laird Shiprepairers & Shipbuilders Limited and A&P Group Limited , have merged to create APCL Group LTD. This newly formed entity will serve as an umbrella organisation, overseeing the operations of A&P Group and Cammell Laird, both revered for their exceptional expertise in the maritime industry.
?Under the APCL banner, this merger also encompasses ship repair and project management specialist A&P Australia and UK-based Neway Industrial Services. While each company will preserve its unique identity, this consolidation under APCL Group positions the entity as a significantly larger and more impactful player in the market.
Marine Robot Fleets Set to Revolutionise Ocean Exploration
A groundbreaking project, supported by Innovate UK , has resulted in the development of a fleet of marine robots poised to redefine ocean exploration. These autonomous marine systems, designed to tackle complex offshore tasks, are on the verge of transforming the maritime industry.
?As maritime operations become more intricate and costly, with energy infrastructure projects expanding further offshore, the demand for advanced multi-platform capabilities has surged.
?The two-year collaborative research and development initiative, known as Squads of Adaptive Robots (SoAR), was led by Planet Ocean, the developer of ecoSUB AUVs. The project, initiated in September 2021, reached a pivotal moment this summer with full system testing conducted at Smart Sound Plymouth on England's southern coast.
