SMI Council Elections: Nominate new SMI Council members for 2025

We are now accepting nominations for the 2025 SMI Councils. Each Council is made up of around 20 members selected from the wider SMI membership to ensure a broad range of views and interests are represented.?

Council members are expected to attend 4-5 meetings annually, and those who engage fully will find the most value in the role. This is an opportunity to work more closely with SMI and contribute to the council workplans and their overall direction. We encourage companies to nominate a diverse range of representatives to bring fresh ideas and contribute to robust discussions.

The deadline for nominations is 31st October

Fleet Solid Support Ships Programme successfully completes its Preliminary Design Review

The Fleet Solid Support (FSS) Ships programme for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary has successfully completed the Preliminary Design Review (PDR), which marks the first major milestone in the programme.

The PDR has been completed in working sessions between the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Navantia UK as prime contractor of the programme and BMT, who has led the functional design phase.

This milestone has confirmed the robustness and maturity of the design, marking the progression of the programme. The FSS now enters a new phase, focused on detailed design and heading towards the start of construction in 2025, according to the schedule.

MATS 2024 - 5-7th November 2024

The future direction of the UK’s marine research infrastructure and how to succeed in taking on solo global ocean challenges are on the keynote billboard for this year’s tenth Marine Autonomy and Technology Showcase (MATS), organiser the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) has announced.

The event will run from November 5-7, at NOC’s dockside facilities in Southampton, with the NOC operated research vessel RRS James Cook due to be alongside.

F4OR Routes to Access

Did you know that there are four different routes into the national cohort of the Fit For Offshore Renewables (F4OR) programme??

These routes give prospective supply chain companies a pathway into the F4OR programme regardless of their level of experience in and knowledge of the offshore wind sector.?

The route that a company takes depends on where they are in their offshore wind journey and whether they have previously participated in a F4OR programme and will determine the length of their engagement. Follow the link below to read the Scope and Guidance document to learn more about the different application routes available and eligibility criteria for each.
