AutoNaut USV Purchased for Hurricane Tracking
The AutoNaut Unscrewed Surface Vessel (USV), built in the UK, has been purchased by the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) to provide data to assist with hurricane tracking.
The sensors on board will provide BMS scientists with humidity, conductivity, temperature, depth, wind and wave data. This will allow the scientists to monitor and observe the changes as different weather patterns approach the island of Barbados.?
?Call for Solutions: Sustainable Water Production in Remote Locations
The Royal Navy and US Navy are faced with a critical challenge – ensuring a sustainable supply of portable water in austere locations, particularly on San Clemente Island (SCI), without relying on external electricity or significant infrastructure. Currently, SCI receives 400,000 gallons of water by barge each week from the mainland, a logistical operation that incurs significant costs and risks.
?London Tech Bridge is seeking solutions for water production challenges from various industries at different Technology Readiness Levels (TRL 6-9). If you have a technology or product that can address this challenge, you are welcome to submit a brief summary of your proposal by November 17, 2023.

SMI's Week at Europort
Helen Stephen attended Europort, which took place in the world port city of Rotterdam this week. As organisers of the UK Pavilion, SMI supported 8 companies at this important trade show and exhibition, which focuses on special purpose vessels representing a significant market for the UK supply chain.
?On Wednesday, SMI hosted a well-attended drinks reception in the Pavilion, allowing UK pavilion exhibitors and international partners to network and celebrate the return of the biennial event. Europort continues all week and the UK pavilion can be located in Hall 8, Stand 8327.
