Developments Made on Falkland Islands Port Facility Project

Following the sitting of an extraordinary Executive Council (ExCo) on Friday 16 February and the sitting of ExCo on Tuesday 27 February, two papers have been approved to progress replacement of Stanley port facility, FIPASS.

Two tenders were received and, following the recommendation from the Tender Board to the Project Board the preferred company, Harland and Wolff?was proposed to ExCo.

Maritime UK Awards 2024 to take place in Belfast

Maritime UK are delighted to announce the much anticipated Maritime UK Awards 2024? (MUKA 24) taking place at the world famous Titanic Belfast on 5 June. The MUKAs will be one of the many highlights of the three day ‘Belfast Coastal Powerhouse Summit’, bringing together key stakeholders and partners from across the country to celebrate and promote the very best achievements of this incredible industry.

The Satellite Applications Catapult to host Maritime and Space sector networking event

The Satellite Applications Catapult is organising a Maritime and Space sector networking event at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton on the morning of Tuesday 26th March. This is a free of charge, invite only event, funded by the UK Space Agency. It is aimed at exploring some of the emerging challenges of the maritime sector that can be addressed by satellite services such as earth observation, satcoms, positioning navigation & timing.

UK-Belgium Maritime Innovation Day

This week Emma Johnson attended the UK-Belgium Maritime Innovation Day event at the iconic Port House building in Antwerp.? Several innovative UK companies, including SMI members?Ninety Percent of Everything (90POE),?ACUA Ocean,?BMT,?Ensemble Analytics,?Lloyd's Register,?SeaBot Maritime?and?SEA-KIT International took to the stage throughout the afternoon to discuss their engagement with maritime autonomy and smart shipping developments.
