From birth, our world was largely made up of smells and emotions. Our sense of smell is the only one of our five senses that is connected directly to our brain. All of our other senses of sight, hearing, taste and touch require interpretation by the brain to understand their meaning. Our sense of smell is connected directly to the limbic or “emotional” part of our brain; so no interpretation is required by the brain.
?
Smell triggers past emotional experiences. It may be possible for us to create an emotional connection to what joy and success smells like when we learn how to lower our walls. This could help to enhance our awareness and commitment to living in the present moment. The smell of joy and success could create an emotional bond that strengthens the relationship we have with our self and each other.
?
Interesting Note:??There is one and only one smell everyone in world loves because it is associated with fond memories and that smell is vanilla. The reason for this is the smell of vanilla is found in breast milk (this smell is added by manufacturers of baby formula).?
