Alumni Feature: Travis Paulson '13 SC&IS, Trade Operations Coordinator at Mars Food
Driven by the Mars Purpose, “The world we want tomorrow starts with how we do business today,” Travis Paulson ('13 SC&IS) is responsible for supporting the execution of the Mars Food Sales Operating plan as it relates to trade promotional activity, demand forecasting, and strategic revenue management initiatives. As a key partner in the company’s system go-live implementation of Visual Fabrique, a revenue management solution, Travis works to optimize promotional spending to fund growth. A supply chain person at heart, Travis spent the first few years of his career in procurement, inventory management, and order fulfillment. With a strong focus on customer centricity, he enjoys overcoming challenges that will better service customers at the right time, place, quantity, and quality they expect. Travis is proud to be a Martian, where there is focused energy towards things like 100% recyclable packaging, and opportunity creation that offers everyone a seat at the table.
Travis' career advice: A piece of advice that always resonated with me was a term I heard on day one of my SCM 421 class taught by Jason Acimovic. Certainly, a phrase not coined by Jason, but absolutely the first time I heard it, “Work Smart, Not Hard” simply stated was reassurance that there is always a better way to navigate complex challenges. By collaborating with your peers, keeping an open mind to continuously learn, and utilizing resources and systems, you can unlock your full potential in your career.
