Alumni Feature: Sarah Wiener, ’19 MKTG, Pandemic Response Technology Initiative Process Specialist at Intel Corporation

Due to happenstance, Sarah’s first full-time job at Intel was diverted from a new Business Capabilities Analyst, to Pricing, managing the European, Middle Eastern, and African (EMEA) markets for the Internet of Things (IoT) division. While there was about a 6 month learning curve to understand Intel’s IoT business and products, she feels extremely lucky to be given the opportunity to price products in multi-million dollar deals and work in an analytical role in marketing as a new grad. As it’s common to wear many hats in big companies, she also works on revenue segment reporting for Intel’s IoT business, gathering market data from customers to ensure the revenue is correctly assigned for reporting. Since March 2020, she has since put her pricing role on hold to join the Pandemic Response Technology Initiative team (PRTI) to develop a process for getting Intel's $50 Million in funding out to hospitals and companies during the Covid-19 pandemic, "accelerating access to technology at the point of patient care, speeding scientific research and ensuring access to online learning for students" (Intel Newsroom). After her process role in PRTI, she plans to return to her pricing role and seek out more project-based roles with Intel. Sarah’s mantra in her career is to "be consistent and be positive" and her biggest career advice is to feel confident saying both “Yes” and “No”. Her favorite career opportunities have started out with just an email or a side conversation with a coworker that could have easily been overlooked if she had not responded with a direct “Yes”. On the flip side, there are also times when saying “No” is needed to have a healthy work/life balance, to help those around you understand your priorities.
