SMD Ltd Supports Huntingdon Community Action Projects for the Third Year Running

We are proud to continue our partnership with Huntingdon Community Action Projects (HCAP) for the third consecutive year. This ongoing collaboration underscores SMD's commitment to creating positive and lasting change within the local community.

HCAP, a registered charity (Charity Number 1097615), plays a vital role in the Huntingdon, working closely with local authorities, voluntary organisations, and residents to establish community-driven initiatives that address critical needs. The charity’s efforts focus on improving well-being, enhancing children’s academic achievements, and empowering adults to reach their full potential.

HCAP’s projects are tailored to meet the unique challenges faced by the most vulnerable members of the community. Some of their impactful initiatives include:

  • 100 Christmas Hampers: Providing festive joy to families in need, including presents for all children.
  • Snack Shack: Offering holiday food provision for families.
  • Grow: Art and craft sessions to support mental health for adults.
  • Family Fun: Supporting families with a two-course meal and additional resources.
  • Moody Mondays: A well-being drop-in program.
  • Parent Courses: Covering essential skills like confidence-building, cooking, child behaviour, and adult learning.
  • Mike’s Garden Path: A men’s well-being group.
  • Lighthouse: A drop-in service for victims of domestic abuse.

SMD’s continued support helps HCAP sustain and expand these critical programs, ensuring long-term benefits for individuals and families in the area.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with HCAP for another year and support their outstanding work,” said Matt O. , Operations Manager at SMD. “Whilst we are able to contribute by donating funds and helping to pack and deliver hampers, the real credit goes to Tracey and her incredible team at the Coneygear Centre. Their hard work and dedication make this initiative possible.”

The Grow team, a fantastic project run by HCAP that uses arts and crafts sessions to support mental health in adults, has gone above and beyond once again. They’ve poured time and care into creating thoughtfully handmade, personalised hampers to young people who might otherwise go without.

It’s rewarding to know that our contribution, while just one part of a larger effort, plays a role in supporting such an important cause. A heartfelt thank you to Tracey and her team for their tireless efforts in making such a meaningful difference in our community.
