Everyone knows you’re supposed to put your phone in a bag of rice when it gets wet. Unfortunately this urban legend is more likely to result in additional problems than it is to actually help you dry out your phone. I’ve successfully used a food dehydrator on a phone before the smartphone days, but these days you need to power it down, put it in a bag with an artificial desiccant, and get it to the repair shop post haste.
If you fell for the rice trick you aren’t alone. Smartphones have been around only a few years, but already there are dozens of urban legends about them swirling around. Many of these urban legends have to do with charging and batteries, but there are even people who believe your smartphone can cook an egg. Fortunately, it would actually take 7000 phones to slightly warm an egg.
