Smartphone Manufactures Epic Failures

Smartphone Manufactures Epic Failures

If I hear one more thing about a camera I'm going to flame on it. This is a phone it's always been about the phone.

I don't know why after a decade of smartphones there is still so much focus on things like how thin the phone is when we've got major issues with mega expensive phones sounding like total rubbish.

Name a phone right now in the market which has awesome sound and I will say no way...

Distortion, Popping, Cracking, Echo, Background Noise, Cutting Out, Very Poor Speakerphone Volume and Related Quality.

Where has High Definition Sound Been?

Why not focus on a phone which can deliver things like six way surround sound with two speaker grills at the top of the phone two speaker grills at the bottom of the phone and two front facing speakers?

The biggest problem I had with the first Pixel and I'm an XL kind of guy still using the Nexus 6 (Not P) cause it's a 6 inch screen so if the Pixel 2 XL does not have front facing speakers rumors speak of I won't be getting one even though I still hate the ugly back side of these Pixels which clearly lack elegance and class a Mate 9 has.

My frustration with Google Android is lack of attention to detail in the OS itself, it's been a decade of poor focus on the little things which mean a lot.

For example poor UX/UI consideration in design all devices should possess tailored UI's which consider the form factor of the device.

Ergonomics's have been an after thought and all of the attention has been misplaced in my opinion and every app on these devices needs to do a better job building apps that accommodate comfort into the user experience as it's already unnatural and awkward experience for a human to use many of the apps on a slab of glass.

Every year there is too much focus on nailing the camera on a phone and not enough focus going into making the phone a stellar experience first. If the last ten years were focused more on the audio experience we'd all be much happier users of these devices.

I think the most elegant cosmetic design in the last 10 years for smartphones has to be the Mate 9 because it was minimal on the bezels and a knockout masterpiece on the back in layout and design, it's just beautiful. Ceramic is the future on the back to assure wireless charging to avoid the two tone designs Pixel is sporting.. It's ugly period.

The Mate 10 will not do this any justice because as always these manufactures change the good for bad and just don't get it when it comes to stellar design.

What the Mate 10 would have to be for me to buy it, is everything on the back side sports on the Mate 9 last year, dual front facing speakers, zero to short bezels on the front and a 6 inch screen minimum and what they need to do is offer three sizes as there are clearly people who object to phablet size phones because some have small hands, pockets or purses and others have large hands, pockets or purses it just makes sense.

What can't any manufacture keep the same design on all variants on flagship devices?

Much like Apple did with the eco iPhone which were targeting the thrift market.

Further I have a major problem with manufactures charging a 100 dollars for more storage and would love to see this trend change into something more valuable.

For example Pixel 2 XL 64Gb $749.00 and Pixel 2 XL 128Gb $849.00 when it should be a pricing scale more like Pixel 2 XL 64Gb / 4Gb RAM, Pixel 2 XL 64Gb / 6Gb RAM, Pixel 2 XL 64Gb / 8Gb RAM, Pixel 2 XL 128Gb / 4Gb RAM, Pixel 2 XL 128Gb / 6Gb RAM and Pixel 2 XL 128Gb / 8Gb RAM just like auto makers do with their features on engine configurations.

This year they will release the Mate 10 with a jacked up back side and stellar front side. What they all need to learn is incremental evolution like Apple, and I have always hated the iPhone design but many others love it (I love the iPhone X design on the frontside), so in saying that there are equally as many who will say they desire a phone like the Mate 9 to be more square or something else and that's fine but I'm not trying to buy a 1000 dollar phone that looks like a plastic child's toy, it better look like a Corvette if we have to pay that kind of money for a phone.

The last 3 years of watching the smartphone market has been like watching a horror movie and screaming look behind you, watch out the killer is going to get you or don't fall or scream the killer is going to hear you.

Some major mistakes over the last year, like everyone abandoning the elements they brought to the market which made them unique like HTC did in the HTC 9 did when they trashed their perfect design to include a Samsung button on the front of their phones getting rid of Boom Sound dual front facing speakers.

The cure to all that ailed HTC was simple HAVE PATIENCE, TRUST THE THING YOU BRING TO THE MARKET, LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMER, MAKE THREE VARIANTS IN SIZE NOT ONE SIZE FITS ALL AND MAKE SURE IT'S ALL THE SAME HARDWARE. If HTC would have done this they could have taken the crown away from Samsung if they would have removed bloatware, cleaned up their OS offering and focused on OS and Bugfix Updates creating a solid customer service relationship.

Nearly all of the Asian manufactures have EGO/PRIDE issues which prevent them from achieving great things for their respective organizations. THEY DON'T LISTEN TO CUSTOMERS AND FIND A WAY TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING EXCUSES AS TO WHY THINGS CAN'T HAPPEN.

The industry leaders are saying there are not many more things left to do to keep people buying new phones every year. I DISAGREE..

There are so many self induced problems they could fix which would lead them into the next decade of technology and keep their customers engaged in their brands. The problem everyone has these days is paying for defective buggy technology to begin with.

Would anyone tolerate buying a car that only started up every other morning while they wait on the manufacture to fix what they will likely say their customer can fix by getting next years model instead of taking responsibility to address the things not working in the current model?

This can all be fixed when manufactures design phones their customers want and the best way to do this is to listen to the customers you have so you can attract new customers based on their feedback tomorrow. Instead they have all decided to copy iPhone or Samsung which is not the point of market choice and variety.
