Smarter Services? Executive Symposium Speaker Spotlight

The Service Council is pleased to announce a true industry veteran will be taking the main stage at this year’s Smarter Services? Executive Symposium. Richard Smith , former Vice President of Product and Aftermarket Support at Komatsu North America , will be bringing his wealth of insight and experience to the panel, “Building a Technician-Agnostic Platform: How Data, Information & Intelligence Can Solve the Skills Gap.”

Richard joined Komatsu America in 1990, serving in a variety of functions including manufacturing, product support, contract administration, technical support and product marketing. Though semi-retired, he continues to lend his valuable and wide ranging experience in new product development and expanding business into new markets. Richard has previously served on the National Mining Association Board of Directors and is a former President of National Mining Association Manufacturers and Services Board of Governors, as well as serving on the Board of Directors of the Energy Equipment and Infrastructure Alliance.

Richard is a Business Administration and Management, Summa Cum Laude graduate from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the International Honor Society for AACSB accredited Business Colleges.

Komatsu America is the second largest, fully integrated manufacturer and supplier of construction equipment in North America. Their network of manufacturing plants and parts depots employ approximately 2000 employees who manufacture many units in the United States to serve this market.
