Smarter Digital Transformation: How to overcome the challenges faced when Digitizing complex processes

In order to save costs and meet the demands of modern users, companies are increasingly investing in digitizing the services they provide to customers, partners, suppliers, or even internal collaborators.

When businesses were evaluating how they could digitize their complex processes they often looked at 2 different approaches:

  1. Choose an out-of-the-shelf solution, ready to use and low implementation cost, but generally, they are extremely verticalized and provide low flexibility for customer-specific needs, also limiting the capacity to grow and expand as the business grows and changes, which is a big limitation for enterprise businesses
  2. Build from scratch with code: more traditional, this approach provides great flexibility and can adapt to anything that the customer needs or might need in the future. The challenge lies in the fact that the company needs to invest and manage something that is not its core business, needing to put a team together or hire a partner to build for them. This type of solution requires much more time and effort to build, maintain, and evolve the solutions, which can greatly impact costs and time to market to launch and keep the solutions running.

Neither of the approaches is great for the reasons outlined above, here is when the market looked into low-code as a very interesting alternative.

Low-code allows customers to get a flexible and extensible solution in the market as building from scratch but also allows them to launch their solutions quickly and in a scalable way. For this reason, Gartner states that by 2025, 70% of new applications developed by organizations will use low-code or no-code technologies, up from less than 25% in 2020 . This happens because low code reduces the necessary effort for building solutions and drastically reduces the dependency on specific technologies.

This alternative quickly brings companies closer to their final applications by leveraging a very flexible range of configurations that mimics what would be done through code, still allowing them to add customizations and integrate with legacy systems for example if necessary, this space is where customers can leverage the best of both worlds, also being able to solve challenges related to their very unique business needs. To provide even more value and agility to customers, low-code platform vendors look for ways to accelerate application development by providing initializers, pre-built templates, accelerators, and marketplace apps to bring customers even closer to their final solutions with reduced effort.

In summary, enterprise companies that are looking to digitize their processes and services to reach strategic goals can leverage low-code platforms to quickly build solutions that are fast to launch, don't depend on specific technical knowledge, and are flexible and scalable enough to adapt as the company adapts to the market changes.

Apart from creating a quick MVP, there are more robust low-code platforms out there such as InfoLobby which is capable of handling complicated business processes.
