Smart Parking in Addis Ababa, Etihopia
?Addis Ababa Transport Bureau is to construct the first of six smart parking facilities with 80 million Birr cost in Kirkos Sub-city, Addis Fortune reported.
The Transport Bureau will construct a total of 48 parking facilities as part of the Addis Ababa and Oromia Integrated Master Plan. Eight of these which are called “park-and-ride” will be reserved to parking services only. The remaining 40 is for smart parking, in which vehicles will be lifted by elevator that will place them in the parking spots.
The eight storey parking facility will be constructed on 2,200sqm of land the bureau received in March 2015. Its design is being developed at the Addis Ababa University. The construction is estimated to be finalized in 2015/2016 budget year.
According to the data from the Federal Transport Authority (FTA) website, in the year 2013/2014, the number of vehicles registered in the city has reached 143,366.
