Digital India took one more giant leap as Smart India Hackathon organized to encourage student participation in national issues and fund the best projects as start-ups which ultimately if succeed helps India for economic growth.
What is Digital India HACKATHON?
Digital India Hack-a-Thon is about coding together to solve real world problems. Digital India HACKATHON 2017 is a pan India 36 hour nonstop digital programming competition. It is a initiative of Government of India and AICTE.
About?
Smart India Hackathon-2017 was launched on November 9, 2016 in New Delhi to harnesses creativity & expertise of students, builds funnel for ‘Startup India, Standup India’ campaign, crowd sources solutions for improving Governance and quality of life and gives opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems.
Smart India Hackathon-2017 will be the first massive scale hackathon initiative in India. The two-day event will witness 10,000+ participants, working non-stop for 36 hours to build products/solutions on the problems identified by different Ministries/ Departments across 26 locations in India.
The prizes under different categories include:
· Rs.1,00,000 for the winner, Rs.75,000 for the first runner up
· Rs.50,000 for the second runner up
· And also get a chance to be part of the NASSCOM’s 10,000 Startups programme.
“Smart India Hackathon” has been planned by the Govt of India as the World’s Biggest ever open innovation model, and the Hon’ble Prime Minister is taking very keen interest in its success as the event is aimed at generating 25,000 startups in addition to finding digital solutions to the problems of 29 union ministries & government departments to add to their efficiency and transparency in a big way.
SMART INDIA HACKATHON’17 IN NEW DELHI INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT
Known for its 100% finest placements, full time 74 faculty drawn from 240 Industrial houses & 24 International Universities, highest industry interface and best governance; New Delhi Institute of Management was privileged to be chosen as the only Nodal Center in Delhi by the Government of India for its biggest innovation, startup & digital revolution of the world which apart from 29 union ministries & departments is supported by the NASSCOM and other funding agencies like AICTE, DST, DBT and ICMR for converting the ideas emerging out of this Hackathon into startups according to the Union HRD Minister.
NDIM was been chosen to be the Nodal Center for 2 Central Ministries, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers (Dept. of Chemicals & Petrochemicals) and the Ministry of External Affairs and were the only Institute in Delhi and the only MBA school in this part of the country chosen by the Govt of India to host this 36 hour non-stop innovation ‘Grand Finale’, in addition to one MBA school in Mumbai and 24 engineering institutes in other parts of the country.
A large number of innovative digital solutions and global startups were expected to emerge out of the 250+ genius participants competing at our campus. I thus got an opportunity to witness the making of future world leaders and CEOs at our campus and also become part of the history records for witnessing the birth of another Guinness World Record at our campus.
Highlights in Smart India Hackathon 2017
Honb’le Prime Minister, Shri Narendrabhai Modi, addressed all the participants across India on the night of April 01, 2017 (22:00-23:00 Hrs), and also interacted via Live Video Conference with student participants.

What NDIM did was a team effort needing total hardwork and a lot of determination for the fruitful ending of the event. We were the junk from the quote by Edison. But continuous hard work and determination proved fruitful once again. The zeal to create and invent brought out the best of us.
Team effort and confidence building changed us from junk to gold. What we (NDIM) imagined and planned to invent was a reality now. As an individual I also learned a lot from the team HashBNM and felt valuable. Wish to work again and invent something to make us better.
