All you Bluetooth-aficionados and Smart Home enthusiasts, unite! Starting this friday, the 3rd of June, we'll be hosting a Smart Home & Bluetooth Hackerspace, on every 1st Friday of the month!

You're welcome to join us at the Crownstone Headquarters (in the Groothandelsgebouw, next to Rotterdam Central Station) to talk about Smart Homes and Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE). An awkward combination? Not at all! BLE is the technology to use to build personal devices, from fitness wrist bands to smart watches.

We will talk about new devices and have presentations.There's also the opportunity to get hands-on with different BLE products. The type of devices we have (besides our own product, the Crownstone) are the Homey, the Toon, the Fitbit, the Jawbone, the Flower Power, among others.Definitely bring your own as well! This meetup will also give you the opportunity to learn more about this type of personal device and help you to make your own home smarter! We'd love to hear some of your own suggestions and ideas!

The doors open at 16.00. Don't forget to bring your laptop for some action! We will be open till 22.00, so this gives you an opportunity to drop by after work. There will be beer if you're a very motivated participant ;). These meet-ups are free and everyone is welcome so don't hesitate to bring a friend.

I love the name crownstone ! It's a sloppy translation of the Dutch words "kroonsteen" known as screw terminal to connect a "kroonluchter" (a luxury lamp) to the mains.
