All around us are devices that are connected to the internet, and they have slowly begun to transform life as we know it. Whether it’s a Smart TV, a Smart Home, a Smart Car, or any of the other ‘smart’ devices, these new technologies are everywhere. This network of electronic devices which can connect to the Internet and share data with other Internet-enabled devices is known as the Internet of Things or IoT.
For as much as the IoT improves and shapes our daily lives, the associated security threats raise reasons for serious concern. These ‘smart’ devices are designed to be controlled and monitored remotely, making them ideal targets for hackers that are looking for an entry route into organizations and even personal lives.
IoT devices can help organizations track goods and employees. They can also exchange real-time information about inventory between suppliers and retailers to improve supply chain efficiency. However, these IoT devices pose a great risk for organizations as well. If the device is 'tracking', it means that it is connected to the organization’s network, giving hackers a door to infiltrate your organization.
Today, organizations around the world are implementing innovative technologies to improve their processes and efficiency. Organizations must frequently and proactively test their own technologies and policies with different attacks to identify weaknesses and minimize the losses they could experience with real cyberattacks.
