Smart Cities Americas has just launched the 3rd edition of Smart City Miami Magazine , the first publication in the U.S. focused on building a smart city ecosystem.
The theme of the magazine’s 3rd special edition is “Building Sustainable Communities.” This follows along from last year’s fourth annual Smart City Expo Miami ?, which brought together globally-recognized speakers – some of the best thinkers in urbanism and technology.
Building Resilient and Citizen-Friendly Cities
From keynote speakers to panel discussions, the roster of speakers at Smart City Expo Miami ? highlighted the power of collaboration and innovation in making our cities greener, more resilient, and more equitable.

The Smart City Expo Miami ? brought thought leaders from around the world to share their ideas for creating more sustainable cities. These visionaries and experts in various fields have been innovating ways we can make our urban areas greener, smarter and more resilient. The speakers shed light on why smart cities matter, the move to cognitive cities and the various cutting-edge technologies being developed to reshape urban landscapes.
The evolution of smart cities involves both technological advancement and societal transformation to empower citizens and build more resilient and sustainable urban environments.

The first ever AI Summit for Mayors brought together an impressive lineup of speakers who discussed the potential for AI to shape and improve the future of urban living.

Who’s Who in Sustainability Award
Our “Who’s Who In Sustainability” top award at Smart City Expo Miami highlights the leading innovators who have made significant contributions to advancing sustainability at the community level.
Smart City Expo Miami ? brought together some of these top innovators to discuss plans for the future of urban life, and a group of them were recognized for their exemplary work. Sara Pezeshk, Raimundo Rodulfo, Inna Braverman, Ebru Ozer, Bonnie Schneider, and Biayna Bogosian stood out for their outstanding contributions to sustainability efforts.
Launch Pad
Premiere of the documentary Healthy Havoc: Infrastructure Not Fit Who We Are as Humans.
Produced and directed by Andy Boenau, the documentary provided some sobering statistics on the state of mental and physical health across the country and pointed out that we are at a crisis point. Boenau attributed this to damaging infrastructure – meaning, infrastructure that does not center the needs of citizens.

With approximately 60% of these future megacities yet to be built or enlarged, strategic planning is crucial. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) estimates an investment opportunity of $29.4 trillion by 2030. This includes investments in green buildings, climate-smart water management, public transportation, electric vehicles, renewable energy, and waste reduction. Overall, the concept of "Smart Cities" employing IoT devices for efficient resource deployment has gained traction with 9,000 cities committing globally. The Line" in Saudi Arabia: A 170 km environment-friendly city within Neom, featuring AI-monitored infrastructure, expected to cost $500 billion, accommodating 1 million residents by 2030 and 8 million by 2045. Toyota’s "Woven City" in Japan: A carbon-neutral smart city near Mount Fuji, incorporating driverless vehicle lanes, pedestrian zones, and AI-managed sustainable energy sources.
