SMarketing- Yes Way to Go .....

Cant take credit for coining this term but surely can take credit for creating this graphics which hangs at entrance of my office cabin :)

 SMarketing -The word holds lot of value in it. It is not only Alliance between two pillars of any organization ie Sales & Marketing but it is bringing out the Value , Importance & Need for these two teams to work cohesively towards same organizational goal.

 Unless Sales & Marketing start seeing themselves as "Complimenting Partners" than "Opposite sides" ,I guess the efforts and investments of any company will go in vain…

Both have their own strengths, it is matter of accepting & respecting each others attributes & responsibilities, further combining strengths of both sides together to deliver together at much faster pace.

 My personal experience to achieve this culture at your organization lies in

a) Being a Good listener to both sides

b) Joint discussions & mutual understandings at time of Strategy designing

c) Keeping company goals and objectives in mind, above everything

d) Respecting each others views/opinions/suggestions

f) Winning each side's consent on facts

g) Communication is the KEY for every success. Updating each other regularly on actions.

i) Lastly -Attacking issues and NOT people

 SMarketing is not Impossible friends , Volunteer to extend your hand, I am sure the opposite hand will automatically extend towards you and

TOGETHER you can win & deliver More, Better and Faster

Yes, both sales & marketing are for company growth. But Sales team pays more to customer centric than marketing team. marketing team are more to salesforce centric like brand sales depends on customer with respective to USP over the compitators , but brand building depends on brand sales team with irrespective of USP over the compitators. "The myth is neither of sales guy dn't have chance to work for marketing team or neither of marketing guy will interested to work in sales team to understand the Market reality in a same company"

Well explained ! this can help to some extent to bring harmony between sales and marketing ! In my opinion this situation mostly arises when sales and marketing does not understand each other purpose , objectives and challenges which will not be same although all are required to achieve common goal and sustain growth for long term. I believe until and unless marketing folks ( Managers) have not experienced sales OR sales folks (Managers) have not experienced real marketing in some or other way OR when leadership lacks communications and efforts to bring sales and marketing together such situations in any organisation is inevitable . I guess more and more inspiring real case studies can be of great help!

Good food for thought Bhawna. However, mine perspective of S & M is bit different. As per me, Sales is offering what we have, while Marketing is offering what customer wants. Sales is Product centric while Marketing is Customer centric. Both can be used depending upon product, customer and/or market environment. In Sales, tools used are offers/ discounts/ schemes. In Marketing, tools used are probing/ USPs/GDs etc. Few markets require aggressive sales, few require marketing and many require Smarketing :-) :-)

I carry different view and see that marketing should be sales centric not salesforce centric. but yes i agree that both need to work with mutual interest of growing business
