The smallest details
Have you ever had a moment where everything just clicked? For me, it was the day I realised the true power of process improvement.
I remember walking the manufacturing floor one morning when I noticed something small but impactful—a simple workflow adjustment that was slowing down production.
That discovery led to a team brainstorm, where we identified a solution that improved efficiency by 20%. What struck me wasn’t just the improvement itself but the collaboration that made it possible.
Since that day, I’ve been fascinated by how small changes can lead to massive results, whether in manufacturing processes or team dynamics. It’s taught me that the key isn’t perfection—it’s progress through iteration and teamwork.
What’s a small change you’ve made that created a big impact? I’d love to hear your story in the comments. Let’s learn from each other!

2 个月Great post, Jody Tuckwell! I couldn’t agree more—small changes can lead to huge results in processes and how we interact with our teams. From my experience, those daily, one-on-one moments with employees can make or break the workplace culture. A quick check-in, a thank-you for hard work, or even asking for their input on a process can spark the kind of collaboration you mentioned. That 20% efficiency improvement is impressive, but what stands out most is how the solution came from teamwork. It’s a great reminder that progress isn’t just about fixing workflows—it’s also about building #trust and #engagement with your team. When employees feel heard, they’re far more likely to help drive the small (and big!) changes that lead to success. Thanks for sharing this! It’s inspiring to think about how the smallest interactions can have such a big ripple effect. #Leadership #Teamwork #ManufacturingSuccess #Lean #ContinuousImprovement #EmployeeRetention #WorkplaceCulture

2 个月Your story perfectly captures the essence of continuous improvement—how attention to detail and teamwork can drive meaningful change. Here, we work with a machining process involving a roll with dimensions of D2000x1500mm, containing a total of 12,000 holes with a depth of D22x35mm. The total processing time for drilling these holes used to be 50 hours, as we were using a Point Drill bit model from a specific manufacturer. Similar to your post, a small change had a huge impact on machining time, especially given the large number of holes we process. After discussions with the team, we decided to approach a new supplier to test a drill with a slight geometry change. This improvement in the drill geometry allowed us to save 4 seconds per hole, reducing 48.000 seconds (13.33 hours) per manufactured piece. This resulted in a more than 20% improvement in the manufacturing process for our main product. For us this was a small change with big impact in our manufacturing process.
