Self-Care is Important!
We are all working from home and our kids are doing online school and running amuck. It is easy to get stressed as if you are not already facing daily cash flow worries, staff issues, and increasing client demands. It’s not easy running a small business in the worst economy ever. But the people who use this time to plan, build new skills and innovate will win. While we are busy being business owners, we are people too. No matter how well you think you are handling everything, remember your self-care is important.
Create a Daily Schedule and Stick to it. Staying in your pajamas all day is not ok. It’s a sign of depression. Take a shower and get dressed so you can start figuring out what you need to do next to reinvent your business. Being disorganized fuels anxiety and chaos.
Have Honest Conversations. This is not the time to fake it until you make it. Bottling everything up inside is dangerous. Your body is internalizing your angst. Tell your family, spouse, vendors and staff if you are scared. They certainly are feeling uncertainty too. While you are the leader of your business, you don’t need to have all the answers. Engage everyone in trying to fix or innovate the next best solution for your customers.
Walk it Out. Don't just send your kids outside to take a break, you need to talk it to the street too to clear your head. The fresh air and sunshine will do you some good. Your next brilliant idea to reinvent your business could easily come to your during a good brisk walk.
Keep Healthy Snacks Nearby. Keep water close. Prep your lunch and your healthy snacks and keep them on your desk so you won't be making mindless trips to the fridge looking for things to eat and avoiding what you need to be doing in your business.
Speaking of innovation……This week’s feature article is Do You Need to Reinvent Your Business in These Uncertain Times? There will be winners and losers out of this recession, so take action to the suggestions in this post and develop a new an improved business model.
