It’s Cheaper to Keep ‘Em

If you’ve been struggling with your business focus on your existing customers, it’s cheaper to keep a customer than to go out and get a new one. If you are a service business, it’s not worth trying to attract new customers right now. It’s best to focus on keeping your current customers and trying to engage with them. The first sale you make is always the most expensive, so do your best to develop a strategy to communicate with your customers. Here are a few helpful tips:

Keep it Personal

Use personalized communication when communicating with your customers or email list. Everyone wants to feel like you are talking just to them.

Stay Positive

What can you offer for free right now to add value? Can you do a complimentary brainstorming session? Keep in mind that your customer might be worried about keeping their job as much as you are worried about staying in business. Be a friend first.

Be Transparent

If you want your customers to trust you, you need to be deserving of their trust. That means being honest and transparent about why you are contacting them. Don't start pounding your email list with misleading sales copy and gimmicky campaigns. Using exaggerated language is a great way to get labeled as spam. Grab your audience’s attention with language about the results your clients have received from your products or services. Make sure everything can be backed up by customer testimonials.

Keep Content Relevant

People want to be educated and entertained. It’s okay to be funny, but you must have real content to share as well. Only send content that is helpful to your customers. You can occasionally send offers or discounts, but every email can’t be about an offer.

Don't Ghost Them

Keep up with your content schedule. Post on your blog at the same time each week, and if you start a newsletter or are sending promotional emails regularly, keep it up. Don’t drop off and ghost them. Keep developing content your customer needs. They will eventually see your value and seek out your offers.

Where are your customers going to land?

You draw traffic to your website one of four ways: organic search, blog content, social media promos, or paid ads. When you draw people in from social media or paid ads, you get to control their landing experience. How you develop your landing pages will make a big difference in whether or not you have conversions or not. Having conversions doesn't always mean sales; in some cases landing pages are used to build your email list or launch a sales funnel. Here are 15 ways to develop great landing pages.
