This year has been long in so many ways, but we have finally made it to December and the promise of a new year.

Headshots 101

I am so excited... I got new headshots taken this week, and now I’m on a mission to spread the gospel to others. Here are a few of my best answers on headshot etiquette.

Why are headshots important? They display your professionalism, your brand, and your personality.

When should you update your headshot? You should get new headshots taken every one or two years.

Is that cute selfie you took with your phone a professional headshot? No it’s not. In some cases, your headshot is your first impression when people look you up online. Make sure you look your best. Hire a professional photographer.

Sometimes women ask should I get my makeup done for the photo session? Yes! You certainly want to look like yourself, but a great makeup job can take years off your face. 

What if I have gained some weight since that last time I got headshots? Is it okay to keep using that get headshot for 10 years ago? No it’s not. That’s professional catfishing. Don't do that. Any time you change your look, you need new headshots. Don’t hide your age or weight; embrace the new you. You know your best colors, and if you don't, hire a stylist to help you pick some new clothes and jewelry. With a new outfit, a fresh cut and a confident attitude, you’ll take a great photo. Trust me.
