The SmallBizLady Buzz - Issue 131

Are you ready to rock the Recession?

We are now in a Recession, and things are getting tight. Everyone is cutting unnecessary spending, and you do not want your contract or product to become optional, so here are a few suggestions to engage existing customers.

Look for ways to add value, not price.?What are some value adds that you can add to a contract or service that won’t hurt your bottom-line too much. If you own a smoothie place, could you invite customers to add an extra energy boost for free. If you sell services, could you offer a longer warrantee, could throw in some extra product samples, swag or goodies in a shipment to a customer.

Ask for the budget before preparing a proposal.?Demand the budget, then make a decision based on your costs and profit needs, if you can work within their budget. It must make sense; you are not running charity.

Keep investing in marketing.?Often when times get tight, folks cut back on marketing. Don’t make this mistake. Invest in your business marketing. First, look at what marketing initiatives you’ve done that worked well and do more of that. Test new ideas. You can always invest in remarketing ads. These track people who visited your website.

Keep in touch via email.?One of the best ways to keep your brand in front of your customers is with email marketing. Create a new lead magnet to grow your email list. Launch a monthly or weekly newsletter. Include at least one helpful tip or article, and let them know about the sales and bundle offers that you’ll make during the holidays.

You must make sure that you are paying attention. Recessions tend to last 11-18 months, and you want to be one of the businesses to win big this time. The end of the year will quickly be upon us. Get ready NOW!!

This week’s featured article is How to Determine Your Marketing Approach.
