6 Things to Keep in Mind When Building a Brand for Your Small Business

When it comes to naming your business and building a brand, there are lots of things to consider. Keep these 6 things in mind.

Be Meaningful:?Your business name and your brand imagery should convey what your business does or invite you to tell a compelling brand story.

Check the Protectability:?Do your research to avoid legal and trademark issues. Just because your legal name is registered in your state does not make it trademarked. You need an IP lawyer to assist with that to make sure you can use your brand name.

Be Memorable:?Your brand must be memorable. Use at least two brand colors and hire a professional to help you build your brand identity. You want to build a brand that people know when they see it.

Consider Transferability:?Choose a brand name that people can say and spell. Avoid numbers or strange spellings. Don’t name your business something that won’t translate well in other languages and cultures.

Test Likeability:?Your brand must appeal to your target audience. Use brand colors and a professionally designed logo that leave a positive impression of your business. Use a focus group on social media to give you feedback on your branding.

Consider Adaptability:?Develop brand elements that can stand the test of time. But be willing to give your brand a facelift or a new color story if needed.

If you are trying to redesign your brand or name your new business and product line, keep these tips in mind.
