LOSING WEIGHT!
(The picture says, "What's my goal weight? I don't have one, I will not define myself by a number. My journey is about feeling strong, confident and healthy.")
Note: Sorry I haven't been writing my weekly articles. I am trying to enjoy the last of our summer days. Instead of writing weekly, I'll write monthly!
If you haven't already noticed, portion sizes have drastically increased throughout the years. Unhealthy, less expensive, foods have become increasingly accessible. People are more focused on their technological gadgets then spending quality time with family/friends. Furthermore we have remote controls, computers, and motorized skateboards/ scooters that create an immobile society. So how can one lose weight when society puts all these unhealthy road blocks.
I remember when I needed instructions to get to my destination and the person giving me directions said it was going to be a far walk. I asked how long it would take assuming she was going to say over an hour. When she said 15-20 minutes... I chuckled and thought WOW, do people really think that's far?
There's no secret to weight loss. Eating right and movement is really all it takes for weight maintenance or weight loss.
The trick is to:
- Eat Breakfast, lunch and dinner with appropriate portion sizes in mind (Snacks are optional)
- Engage in activity regularly
- Include high fiber foods (vegetables, fruit, whole grains)
- Drink predominantly water
- Plan ahead
- Follow the myPlate diagram during mealtime
- Read my prior articles!
Eating right is the most important factor here. Exercising will help quicken the pace of weight loss. Generally speaking, you want to eat at regular intervals, 4-5 hours apart! Note: Focus on making lifestyle changes and correcting eating habits - the results will soon follow.
Scheduling and discipline will make all the difference towards your goal of weight loss. Oh and DON'T GIVE UP!
Good luck!
