A small step towards big success - Whatsapp group for Agilists

A whatsapp group to promote group collaboration can sounds like a really trivial idea and you may strongly hold an opinion that nothing can be as effective as face to face meeting. As more and more organisations are moving towards agile, there is a strong need for continuous collaboration among agile practitioners, attending user group meetups and conferences was a good way to network and meet people face to face, however once we get out of those events we get busy in our day to day work and personal life that we don't ever go back and look at the business cards we collected during those meetups/conferences/gatherings.

This happened all the time, and as a result these meetups and conferences became less valuable and moreover the cost of attending these events could be very heavy on the pocket (especially if the event is not in your city). A solution was required to enable affordable and convenient way of communication. Thus in the year 2015, I started a whatsapp group for Agile practitioners who are based in India.

Who we are

• We are group of agile practitioners not necessarily agile coaches
• Today is a group of 222 members on whatsapp

What we do here

• Share knowledge on agile/devops/lean practices and tools based on our experience
• Strive to remove the myths and dysfunctions from the system
• Help each other without expecting profit, we are not here for money making but to collaborate
• We don't promote one agile framework over other, we just share our experience of what worked for us and what didn't.
• We share job opportunities and freelance training opportunities with each other free of cost
• We discuss about mindset issues and ways to bring harmony between agile practices and agile practitioners.
• Admin will remove the members who don't adhere to the group policy mentioned below
• Contests and giveaways

What we don't do

• We do not share confidential information and copyrighted content in the group
• We don't discuss about project/product/services of the organisation that you are working for

What is our whatsapp group's policy

This group is for agile practitioners not necessarily agile coaches, for knowledge sharing and to ask situational questions that you are challenged with, share info about upcoming meet ups and any discount codes for them, share any job opportunities available in your company and anything else related to agile. This group does not support personal conversations, forwarded messages, religious and political conversations and anything that could raise conflict. Confidentiality with respect to phone numbers of members. Never share anyone's phone number or other details without their permission. All group members are requested to please use the reply option to add to the ongoing discussion. We don't encourage painting the forum with opinions appreciative or condescending equally.
