Does this sound familiar: by the end of January you’ve dropped all the resolutions you made, and after 6 months in you realise you haven't even started the work on your big goals for the year? ??
I’ve been there, trust me! It’s not a good place to be in and frankly is a little soul destroying.
We all have that moment of invigoration and excitement at the beginning of the year. We all want success, and we have big dreams. As we should!?
So instead I like to use the new year to set myself and my clients up for success by just doing some simple things right now so we can leverage, grow and bloom next year.?
So let’s dig into some questions to help examine what we need to do for 2022 success.
?? Who do you want to be next year? Not what, but WHO?
This is how you figure out what you want to achieve in this new year. Once you identify the person you want to be, you can start to identify the steps that will help you become that person.?
This is a much more authentic way to achieve goals that really matter to YOU, and align with who you are and your values.?
Envision and manifest the person you will be this time next year. Who is that person? What would that version of you be doing and celebrating this time next year? What would that version of you have achieved and be delighted by? What role models have inspired this person?
And most importantly, what is stopping you being that person right now? What do you need to do, or what do you need to let go of, to become them.?
?? Reflect on the past year
It can be hard to look back, but it’s so important. You will be ensuring that you've identified past mistakes, and the different things you need in place for next year so they can nicely slot into your action plan.

Be honest with yourself. What did you accomplish professionally and personally this year??What worked and what didn't??
Audit your support network. Do you have the friends, family and mentors/coaches in place that will ensure your success? Who drains you, and who lifts you up and inspires you? We need to surround ourselves with people who are demonstrating the actions, success, energy and values that we want to have and aspire to. Associate with people you want to be a peer of and you'll get to where you want to be much faster.?
?? Skillset appraisal
Do you have the skills you need to thrive and adapt in the fast paced world we live in? Change management, problem solving, empathetic leadership, dealing with difficult situations, being a people-first problem solver, being a multiplier. Doing more with less. Executive presence.?
Remember that as a leader you shouldn't know it all. Instead remember that as a leader your job is to know enough and then get your team to be the experts. You bring the team together and hold the bigger picture. Your skill is to know what you know, and to know when to bring it into the team. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you need to know all the details on every area you manage. There is a minimum, yes, but you don't need to know it all.?
?? Set one BIG goal
Finally, I want you to set one big scary audacious goal for 2022. If you've been with me for a while you know I love a big audacious goal. One that makes you seriously uncomfortable, that you don't even want to share with your partner. I always have one of these, and I only share it with my coach and husband (and it took me several years to get to the point where I would share it with my husband).?
It can be scary, and I typically don't know all the details on how to get there. But I'll always set one. And I've got one for next year already in place.?
So what's your big audacious goal for 2022, and what are your smaller goals?

3 年love the idea of setting one big scary audacious goal. I like using the Eisenhower Matrix for project and goal management. I'm going for four in 2022! Thank you for the great tips!

3 年Love this list and especially the stretch goal challenge. For me, it's doing all I can and then letting go and trusting the universe. One of my new mottos is "let it be easy."
