At the recent Small Publishers’ Fair (https://fromesmallpublishersfair.co.uk/), a major event at the lively and eclectic Frome Festival, I helped to staff the Pennybank Writers stall. Among the books for display on the table was Anthimus On the Observance of Foods (https://prospectbooks.co.uk/products-page/current-titles/anthimus-on-the-observance-of-foods/), my translation and commentary of a sixth century AD dietary manual, which attracted some interest. The occasion overall provided the perfect opportunity to talk with writers, proofreaders, editors, and publishers about what makes a typescript ready for presentation.?
