Small Problems In A Failing Country
I have been surprised by how many constituents from Oldham East & Saddleworth have contacted me to express their personal concern over specific issues and wish for me to be an advocate for them in Parliament.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of these causes are either meaningless, stupid or not of my concern as a British citizen. This may sound harsh and uncaring but the truth is that I am harsh and uncaring. I do not have the time or energy to worry about issues that will not improve the UK or create better lives for my fellow citizens. I must be a fascist, as well as a homophobe and racist.
The main reason for this deluge of emails from potential voters is technology. Campaign groups create template forms online for people to enter their name and postcode as a protest. I then receive a well-written email. Some highlight why we must treat crabs better, never drill for oil again, or fund live music venues for struggling artists.
I have also received emails concerning Free Palestine, climate change, personal debt, clean air, world poverty, the natural world, animal protection, assisted dying, support for asylum seekers, and the predicted mantra of Save The NHS. My favourite was: Will I speak up for cats?
I am sure that the people who fill in these forms care passionately about the topic and wish to see change. But every time I see one of these emails, I think of the huge problems we face in the UK and wonder if these individuals are aware of them.
No email yet has expressed concern for the thousands of poor white girls gang-raped. The state of public finances has not been mentioned. No one is worried about mass immigration. No concerns about the sexualisation of children in schools. What about crime levels? Not even one email asking if I know what a woman is.
Are these emails simply virtue-signalling or even narcissistic endeavours? Are our problems so large that people cannot see solutions so concentrate on something else to worry about?
Of course, every one of these individuals has the right to contact me and put forward their concerns for I may be their MP very soon. My point is not that they have contacted me but why they have contacted me.

Well-funded campaign groups use these emails as a lobbying arm. It raises their profile, attracts funding, and can influence the government. The reason why the problems above are not mentioned is because they are not seen as problems. Otherwise, they would be in the process of being tackled, but they are not.
This general election has been a masterclass in The Emperor’s New Clothes. No one wants to discuss the real issues in case they are asked for solutions and have to point out the real mess we are in as a nation. The only exception has been Nigel Farage.
Mass immigration is fuelling a crime epidemic. It has created a housing crisis, broken many of our public services, and led to higher taxes to pay for the mess we have made of it.
The mass acceptance of LGBTQ+ lunacy has damaged many individuals and contributed to poor public services. It is behind the sexualisation of children in schools and youth clubs. We now treat adults as children and children as adults.
Family breakdown is a massive problem and drives violent crime. Our prisons are full of men from fatherless homes. Welfare dependence is bankrupting the system. Women are more unhappy than ever before - 20% are on antidepressants.
Employing people based on merit is no longer fashionable - many public services employ staff based on race, religion and sexuality. This is one of the main reasons why our public services are collapsing – incompetence. We now openly discriminate and think it is a good thing.
We have many problems in the UK. We are sinking into the sea of destruction and many are too stupid to see what is happening until their ankles get wet.
Once we fix our major problems, we can look at some of our lesser ones and I will start to speak up for cats. #NickBuckley4Parliament
