In the pursuit of our goals, it’s easy to become fixated on the end result, losing sight of the beauty found in the journey itself. However, it’s the small victories along the way that truly shape us, teaching us invaluable lessons about ourselves, our likes, and our capabilities. Each step forward, no matter how seemingly insignificant, contributes to our growth and development.
Reflecting on my own journey, I used to be overly critical of myself when I fell short of achieving a goal. I failed to appreciate the progress I was making, too focused on the distant destination to notice the beauty of the path before me. It took therapy for me to realize the profound truth that small wins matter just as much as major accomplishments.
As Admiral William McRaven famously said, “If you want to change the world, make your bed.”. Making our beds may seem inconsequential, but it your first win for the day. By celebrating these seemingly small victories, we cultivate a mindset of positivity and resilience.
