Small Milestones Are Worth Celebrating Too!

Each month in 2017 I am writing a post about the lessons I am learning or being reminded of – hopefully it will help make the learning stick while also helping others. Here is November’s post.
October was incredible- Good News Shared was mentioned in Glamour UK Magazine and The Moments Journal was on the shelves in a shop in West Hampstead, London.
November, however, was not an exciting month for me, work-wise.
When I looked back at my month, initially I felt disappointed in myself. I couldn’t think of many things I had achieved.
After thinking about it for a few days I realised something- I don’t expect huge, exciting moments to happen every day in my personal life, so why would I expect to have Glamour Magazine type achievements every few weeks in my work-life?
While there weren’t huge achievements in the month, I did have lots of nice moments, like a lovely tweet from a Good News Shared reader, people buying The Moments Journal directly and via The Big Issue Shop (it still amazes me that people I don’t know are buying something I created!), and a Good News Shared Agency client giving us some lovely, positive feedback. I’ve also moved to India for a few months so I’m having lots of new experiences!
I have really enjoyed writing these monthly posts this year and reflecting back on my achievements, challenges, and lessons learnt. This past month has helped me realise that while it is important to look back and reflect on these things, I need to apply the principles behind The Moments Journal to my work-life as well as my personal life: big achievements are great, but so are the smaller things that happen, and I should enjoy them and learn from them too.
What exciting things have happened in your work-life recently? How do you reflect on them, and celebrate and learn from them?
