A threads of choices,?
the power gleaned from mistakes,
Bright shades of new unfamiliar things…
Life sometimes does seem complex, isn’t it?
And we underestimate the power of how small things make us feel in such times.?
The “small” things can create big changes in how you perceive life.?
In our recent LinkedIn audio event with our in-house team of experts at Anyo, we had a candid chat about how we can simplify our wellbeing goals for 2024, and begin with small joys.
Vipula Paithankar, our head of psychology and Abi Senguttuvan, our Holistic Nutritionist shared insights on small joys that can offer a great start to improving your physical and mental health this year.
The first question we explored was: What is the one thing that made you 'feel light' as you entered 2024?
Imagine you're a chef in a kitchen, and each task you have is like a plate you need to handle. As you get more plates, it's like trying to carry too much at once. Just like a chef who can't move fast with too many plates, having a lot to do can slow you down in your daily life. Have you felt this too??
Hence from the mental health perspective, Vipula highlighted how it's important to make our decision making processes simpler on an everyday basis. That can help in managing our energy levels better, making it easier to handle multiple tasks and accomplish what you want to.
Yes, changes are not going to happen overnight, so efforts and consistency matter.?

Does our food plate also have to ‘be light’ for us to look and feel light??
Food and nutritional goals can help you make a good start, but knowing how to do it in the right way is important. Getting started off with radical expectations in terms of weight loss right at the beginning of the year can lead to failures and is also not sustainable in the long run.?
Next, let’s talk about failures. Those epic fail moments of 2023 did pull us down a bit. But we aren't going to give up, are we? Our next exploration in the conversation was about how to reframe failures.
Making mistakes can be seen as a way for improvisation. So, look at it as a temporary setback and not as your entire identity. Once you understand your failures better, it's about stepping out of the familiar, venturing into the unknown, and allowing curiosity to be your guide.?
When it comes to food, failure’s success rates are often high with diets. Abi, our nutritionist says that one important hack to not fail in this area is to actually NOT cut out your favourite food altogether. That’s a kind way to deal with your own nutrition goals!
If you are looking for a nutrition reset in 2024, our upcoming Saturday workshop on Jan 27th is the right place to start. Nutrition expert Abi will induct you into a healthy eating regimen right away. Join our WhatsApp group to receive updates about this workshop: https://chat.whatsapp.com/BciAym4xgjP9glBvyR25yL
Finally, the conversation turned towards ‘trying something new’ as part of our wellbeing goals in 2024. Experiencing that child-like joy and excitement is important at an emotional level and it can actually rewire your brain positively. On the nutrition front, Abi suggests introducing a new habit (if you don’t do it already i,e) to have an early dinner and aid digestion better.
Be it experimenting with a new kind of fruit that’s not easily available or wanting to spend more time with horses, our in-house team of experts have excellent plans for this year. What’s yours? We are eager to know. Type it out in the comments!
