Small Contributions, Big Impact

I wouldn't want people mistaking me for a volunteer all-star, but volunteering always feels good. First and foremost, I'm a 'let's do some good in the world' kind of person. I just want to do my part in making this world a better place. I genuinely believe in charitable deeds and making the world brighter. That resonates more with me than being seen as a springboard for volunteering.

I grew up as a Boy Scout, and serving the community was at our core. Now, I jump at chances to participate in the scouting community with my sons. I set up American flags on holidays like Memorial Day, Labor Day, the Fourth of July, and Flag Day, and I led clean-up events around my hometown. My church also organized volunteer events for people to come together and lend a helping hand. I participated in these events for several years, and those moments gave me unique insights into the importance of generosity and kindness.

Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to work for some truly inspiring employers with a passion for giving back. Thanks to them, I've had numerous opportunities to get involved in community service projects. I couldn't be more grateful for the chances I've been given to serve my local community.

The Start of a Volunteer Adventure

I was honored when Annie Roethel Field approached me about joining her new program. She saw me as a potential ambassador and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Knowing my passion for volunteering and leading initiatives, I couldn't turn her down. Annie Field is just too incredible to say no to, so I enthusiastically said yes! :-)

While I tend to be more focused on structure, organization, and efficiency, my awesome co-ambassador for the Denver hub, Madeline Smith , brings excellent communication skills and the ability to get things done. Together, we make a perfect complementing team. We created a framework for our team to work from, paving the way for future volunteer ambassadors. My goal is to make this an easy role for future ambassadors by providing the necessary framework for success. Sometimes, taking on expanded roles can feel like a labor of love because of having to reinvent the wheel. But putting in the ambassador framework will allow future ambassadors to spend more time doing what they love rather than getting caught up in administrative tasks.

Bringing Comfort to Denver's Tiniest Residents

Newborns in Need is an excellent organization with an inspiring mission. Their goal is to provide support to new parents and babies in Denver, regardless of their socioeconomic status. These take-home bags of diapers, clothing, blankets, books, and more may seem small, but they bring incredible comfort to new families. For struggling parents, receiving something like this can make a world of difference.

I've been coaching little league soccer teams for the past eleven years. The age group I work with the most is U5 to U8. I started coaching when my son joined a local team, and since then, I've seen so many kids grow through the program. My goal is to create a fun and exciting environment while teaching teamwork, respect, and gratitude to my team. It's a fantastic privilege and a chance for personal growth. I'm proud to say that my teams always prioritize having a good time and show incredible resilience during the competitive season.

We all live incredibly busy lives, leaving limited time and resources for volunteering activities. No contribution is too small; it's entirely dependent on what individuals are able to give. The way I see it, it's vitally important to look for ways to contribute in some way – no matter how large or small your capability is. Every helping hand counts, so supporting even the smallest of contributions can make an enormous difference. Participating can bring an overwhelming satisfaction, knowing you are making an impact.
