Small consistent efforts make an impact

Basically success has three steps. Focus. Try everything. Focus on what works, and work for years together. Then you succeed. “Consistent small efforts” refer to the third stage only, where all you have to do is to eat dirt everyday and stuck to it. At the beginning, neither small efforts nor consistent efforts would get you to a path you belong. Like after reading Atomic Habits, I started implementing “micro-habits” into my daily life. These are actions that can be completed in two minutes or less, though they give you the option of adding onto them if you want.

Every day I did ten push-ups, stretched, read a page in a book, wrote a sentence in a story, journaled a sentence, kept a water bottle on my desk, flossed my teeth, meditated for a minute, etc. All these things take very little effort and time, so little that I had no excuse not to attempt them. Over the next few months I managed to write 30,000 words in a story, journal 70 pages, work my push-ups up to 50 (and incorporate core exercises), relieve my backpain from stretching, drink more water (and therefore have fewer headaches), feel more focused/relaxed from meditation, and read twenty books.

If I attempted to achieve any of those all at once I would’ve failed; by doing only a little bit each day I’ve managed to be more productive and accomplish a lot more than before. That can be so.But you need to be sure where you are heading. Important also is you need to be flexible,once you see your effort is not bearing fruits. Incrementalism is often a good thing. But it is not enough because you have to be headed and remain headed in the right direction - and you have to have the time.

An excellent example where it can screw you is the attendance of traditional college with the purpose of acquiring a degree. The average college grad no longer benefits financially from the experience. There is no bump in their net worth. They may be misled by (often touted) higher earnings. But those earnings merely cover their costs at this point, I have been successful by pursuing the following method: Be wary of conventional wisdom. Remember that 75% have virtually no net worth and that 10% have 70% of it. The “wisdom” of the masses, apart from things they are individually expert in, is suspect.

Make use of the Scientific Method. Consider and test a few hypotheses to see what is most promising. I think of this as proof of concept. Additionally, partake of wisdom and periodically sample results to see if a tweak is called for. Patience: Patience is the key to consistency: we have to be patient and focus our efforts diligently in one direction in order to produce quality, lasting, tangible results. A good example of this is in the world of diet. People try something for a week or two and, impatient for results, immediately run off to the next interesting thing that they see in an ad or on a website.

Belief: Likewise, failing to believe in what you’re doing will definitely kill your consistency in doing it. Or, to look at it another way, make you much more consistent at not doing it.Your consistency, or lack thereof, in what you do is a good indication of your true belief about it. Value: The perceived value for a particular thing, which results from the action you need to take should be taken into consideration. Everything that we do is generally motivated by one of two things: fear and desire either case, you take action based on perceived value: running from a bear has the value of saving your life, while running as a form of running has the value of maintaining your health. It is a natural tendency that if we fail to see some kind of return from whatever we’re doing, we are automatically demotivated and as a result, our consistency suffers.

Reward yourself when you get even a small task done. Evan small goals deserve rewards it can be anything that makes you happy and not necessarily a big thing. Rewarding yourself acts as a kind of reinforcement. A behaviour rewarded has a high chance of being repeated. Give yourself time to see changes in whenever you try to do something understand that you that it can take time. Instead of trying to do it only once or twice do it everyday. Repetition is the key here, when we do it again and again we start getting results.

You have to put in consistent work in order to see results. This is true of everything in life from your work life, to home life, to social life. Consistency in your efforts leads to self-discipline, teaches you self-control, improves your overall personality, and builds momentum. When you are consistent, you have a sense of accountability and direction that translates into progress and success. Cheers!
