Small Changes Can Make a Big Impact!

Small Changes Can Make a Big Impact!

Welcome LinkedIn friends! Your weekly insight to grow your relationships and book of business.

I’ve learned something important recently that I want to share with you. It’s all about how making small changes to your approach can have a huge impact.

We did this with one of our key tools, and it’s worked better than we expected.

We made a big change to the way we present our core training and coaching.

We took a step back and decided to simplify things.

Before, we were trying to be clever with how we named things.

We had creative titles for our training modules, but we found that people didn’t always understand what they meant right away. So, we changed the names to simple, clear language that everyone could understand. Now, people get it instantly.

We also added something new to our one-page map of our training system. Before, each module just had its name listed. But we realized that we could add a little more detail to make things clearer.

So, we started including a subtitle for each module. This little extra detail sparked curiosity and made people want to learn more.

Another important change we made was adding more structure to the map. Previously, it only listed our "GrowBIG Training." But we realized that we also wanted to showcase "GrowBIG Leader Training" as part of the overall system.

This allowed us to bring everything into one place, making it easier for people to see the full picture of what we offer.

We started using this one-page map in nearly every introductory call we had. And here’s what I’ve learned from using it:

1. Keep It Simple

The first thing I learned is to keep your introduction simple. Nobody wants to sit through a long presentation with 17 slides about your company.

Instead, create a one-page overview. This gives the person you’re talking to the big picture and lets them decide what they want to learn more about. It’s all about making it easy for them to understand quickly.

2. Be Clear, Not Clever

When you’re sharing information, use clear language. It’s tempting to be clever with fancy terms or creative names, but that can confuse people.

If they don’t understand what you’re talking about right away, they might tune out. Clear words are always better. You can be clever in the details, but make sure the main message is simple.

3. Teach, Don’t Sell

The next thing I learned is that your one-pager should teach, not just sell. When you teach, the person you’re talking to stays open to learning more. But if you’re only focused on selling, they’ll close off and feel like they’re being pushed into a decision.

In our case, we made sure that our one-page map explains the skills needed to be successful at growth. In just one page, we’re sharing nearly 20 years of experience!

4. Give People Control

When you create a one-page map or any overview, you’re giving the other person control.

They can choose what to dive into instead of you overwhelming them with everything at once. It makes the conversation feel more like a partnership and less like a hard sell.

Why This Works

The simple one-page approach has been a game changer for us. It’s helped us stand out and get more engagement from people we talk to.

Instead of dumping a lot of information all at once, we let people pick what they want to know more about. This keeps them interested and makes them feel in control.

What Can You Learn from This?

So, what can you take from this? If you’re introducing your business or service, don’t use a long, complicated presentation.

Keep it simple and clear.

Teach rather than sell, and give your audience the chance to choose what interests them most.

In the end, small changes can lead to big results. It’s all about making your message easier to understand and more engaging for your audience.
