The Challenge

A leading life sciences company relied on a complex Excel spreadsheet to respond to Requests for Quotation (RFQs).

This spreadsheet contained formulas to determine the time and effort required for projects, developed over years of experience and modified by multiple contributors. Although the spreadsheet effectively met their needs, it had become increasingly complicated and lacked a single authority overseeing the knowledge base it represented.

The Solution

eAppSys stepped in to streamline this process & here is how we did it:?

· Reverse Engineering: We meticulously analysed and reverse-engineered the logic embedded in the spreadsheet’s numerous formulas. This involved understanding the intricacies developed over years and consolidating the expertise from various contributors.

· Application Development: Using Oracle APEX, we built a robust application for Order Management and Quote Generation, incorporating the logic from the spreadsheet. This application was then hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

· User-Friendly Interface: We prioritised ease of use in the new application, designing intuitive guides and wizards to help users navigate the system effortlessly. This ensured that the transition from the spreadsheet to the new application was smooth and user-friendly.

The Impact

The new application is now used globally by the company’s sales and marketing teams. Here are some of the key benefits they’ve experienced:

· Consistency: With a centralised application, the logic for quote generation is now consistent and standardised, reducing the risk of errors and discrepancies.

· Efficiency: The user-friendly interface and automated processes have significantly reduced the time required to generate quotes, enhancing overall productivity.
