Hello Friends and Fellow Business Owners,
I chose a GREAT word for this week’s newsletter, GRATITUDE!
I am a big fan and user of three-word mantras. I like to apply them to storytelling for clarity and deeper understanding. One of my favorite three-word mantras is Gratitude Changes Everything.
When we see life and business through the lens of gratitude, we unlock the ability to stay in the present moment. This simple exercise helps us avoid the pitfalls of dwelling on past mistakes or becoming anxious about future uncertainties. Instead, gratitude anchors us right where we are standing and allows us to focus on each moment for what it is—a unique and valuable part of our journey.
Gratitude teaches us to cherish the roller coaster ride of business and life. We learn to accept and even enjoy the highs and lows that come with our decisions, understanding that each twist and turn is an opportunity for growth and learning. When we embrace gratitude, everything really does change for the better.
Living and working with gratitude means taking one day at a time, one step at a time, and one decision at a time. It’s recognizing the privilege we enjoy engaging in activities, navigating challenges, and celebrating victories. As my son Robert likes to tell me, we “get” to do these things, and that realization fills our hearts with appreciation and joy.
As business owners, we have the power to cultivate a culture of gratitude within our organizations. By modeling gratitude in our daily interactions and encouraging our teams to do the same, we create an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated.
How cool is that!Enjoy today and make the most of it.
Peace,
Brian
1. How Gratitude Impacts a Small Business
Showing gratitude as a business owner can be more impactful than you may think. In this post on his blog, this entrepreneur points out the value of gratitude in a small business. He believes gratitude serves as a retention tool, helping you attract and retain a “committed workforce.”
Gratitude also helps us appreciate what we already have and “shifts our focus from what we lack.” The author talked to a neuroscientist and psychologist who says, “Developing a habit of gratefulness at the end of each day can be a powerful sleep aid. And this doesn’t need to be complicated. A few quiet moments to reflect on the blessings in your life will help to quiet the mind … and the soul.”

2. ?How to Tailor Influence Marketing By Generation
While many think social media influence marketing only works for Gen Z and millennials, it is an effective marketing tool for targeting Gen X and baby boomers. However, as this eye-opening post on eMarketer explains, each generation has to be approached differently.
Here’s a quick rundown of where to reach them.
Gen Z: Top social platforms: Instagram (72.5%) and TikTok (71.2%). Marketing tip: Work with influencers who actually use the products they’re promoting.
Millennials: Top social platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Marketing tip: Millennials are also after discounts. Work with creators to offer discount codes or promote reward programs.
Gen X: Top social platforms: Facebook and Instagram. They’re more likely to use Pinterest than TikTok. Marketing tip: Your content should demonstrate practical solutions to real-world problems.
Baby boomers: Top social platforms: Facebook. Marketing tip: Emphasize value and limited-time offers to create urgency.
