Get Synergised established with the strong belief that the business, charitable and public sectors collaborating together could be a powerful catalyst for change, wow, never more than ever have these words rung so true.
Inspired by Rishi Sunak's words "We want to look back on this moment and remember the many small acts of kindness done by us and to us." I felt compelled to write and share my thoughts on what I have been witnessing in the wake of COVID -19.
Using UNITY as the glue that joins everything together, here are my observations of those that are thinking of others.
Unconditional
All around people are giving without placing any conditions. True altruism, showing concern for other human beings, many times at the expense of themselves. Nothing in return, no mutual benefit, just given as a gift to those in greater need.
Need
The requests come through thick and fast. From the prescription that needs collecting, to the free coaching offered as anxieties heighten. Left over food from closing restaurants to provide food packages to those in food poverty, to loans of laptops to help youth workers keep connected and be a lifeline to vulnerable and at risk young people. Going above and beyond. No questions asked,
Innovation
We pivot, we change and we are innovating in crisis to respond to need. The creativity and resilience of the human spirit is inspiring. Let's use the stories around us to move us to action in small ways and big ways, taking forward what we have witnessed.
Things
All those possessions, things, stuff, things, stuff and more things. Some of it seems so superficial when basic necessities are few and far between. We take things for granted but when isolating the small things bring us so much joy and we become so much more aware of their value. Stripped of our comforts, we suddenly realise what really matters.
Yes
Say YES. Where can I help......
Not just for now, but after this is all over............. People really matter, they always did, but now even more than ever.
Conclusion
Unity "We want to look back on this time and remember how we thought first of others." Rishi Sunak. There is power in our togetherness.
