Slurry Pump Shaft Seal Selection
Due to the characteristics of the slurry delivered by the slurry pump, some have relatively large particles, and some slurries contain corrosive substances. Therefore, when selecting a shaft seal, different sealing methods will be selected according to different slurries.
1. The most common one is the packing seal. This kind of seal is made by the packing fully contacting the shaft, thereby preventing the transmission medium from passing through, and achieving the purpose of sealing. This kind of seal will cause leakage when the slurry pump is running, so its disadvantages are toxic and corrosive liquids cannot be transported.
2. Expeller dynamic seal uses reverse centrifugal force to prevent liquid leakage. This seal does not require shaft seal water. If it is not convenient to add shaft seal water on site, you can choose this seal method.
3. Mechanical seal has the best sealing effect. It achieves the purpose of sealing by tightly contacting the moving ring and the static ring along the axial direction of the spring. The mechanical seal can achieve no leakage, but during installation, care should be taken to protect the friction surface to avoid wear. If there are corrosive substances in the slurry, the mechanical seal can be selected.
